OUR INCA TRAIL FOOD

All of our Inca trail food is prepared from fresh ingredients, that are bought in the Cusco local market. Everything is carried by our super porters and then prepared by our amazing chef. We don’t use any rehydrated or canned food. It is all fresh, healthy, and tasty!

We train our chef in the low season every year to prepare delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, and they are all served with a smile! After completing each day’s trek, you will enjoy our happy hour before eating a tasty dinner, that will undoubtedly exceed all your expectations about food on Inca Trail.

Do you have any dietary restrictions?

No problem!. Let us know when booking. We cater to vegetarians, gluten-free, lactose intolerance, pescatarian, vegans, and any food allergies.

How about the water?

There is tap water in each Inca Trail campsite and our cook boils it for 15 minutes, so it is safe for you to drink. We provide you with plenty of water each day, but you will only need to carry enough water to get you to the first lunch stop. You can refill your bottles at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

You are going to be well fed during your Inca trail Treks with us. Food will be provided five times a day, beginning with a delicious breakfast, a snack, a lot of lunch, an happy hour(afternoon tea with cookies and popcorn), and finally dinner.

Abel Quillahuaman - AB Expeditions
CEO & Founder at

My name is Abel, and I am the co-founder of AB Expeditions, a local travel company based in Cusco. I was born in Chinchero, in the community of Chusso. My journey began working as a farmer, then later as a porter on the Inca Trail. After that, I studied to become a tour guide, learned English, and spent 20 years guiding different treks around the Cusco region.

Over the years, I began writing blogs about the treks I’ve done and sharing useful tips about traveling in Cusco. Eventually, I founded AB Expeditions to offer authentic travel experiences with a strong commitment to supporting local communities and creating unforgettable adventures for our guests.
