SACRED VALLEY  TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Sacred Valley Tour

Sacred Valley is a vast valley where there are a lot of tourist attractions. It is posible to Visit most of them in one day but you will have a very short time on each site and you won’t enjoy them properly, that’s why we have split it into 2 options to visit it properly and we still have the option 3 to visit all of them.  Any of these options start at 7:00 am at your hotel and finish at 6 – 7 pm in Cusco. See the options below and let us know which option you want:

Option 01: By Pisac(Alpaca farm, Pisac ruins, Pisac Market, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero).

We will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 07:00 am in Cusco for your Sacred Valley 1day tour. Then we will take a road that leads to Pisac. We will visit the 5 main sites, Awana Cancha where you see (Alpacas, Llamas, Vicuña, and Huanacos), Pisac Archeological site, Pisac Market, Ollantaytambo Archeological site and Chinchero.  Halfway, we will have our lunch in Urubamba, after lunch we can visit Brewery(optional) then we go to visit the Archeological Center of Ollantaytambo. After visiting Ollantaytambo, we will drive to visit the Chinchero ruins and then come back to Cusco.

Option 02: By Maras( Chinchero, Moray, Salt Ponds, and Ollantaytambo).

On this option of Sacred Valley day tour from Cusco, we will pick you up at 07:00 am from your hotel too. The tour starts with a visit to the Textile Center of Chinchero, then the Colonial town of Maras. From Maras, we keep going to the nearby Inca site of Moray, a magnificent series of terrace circles set into the ground that was once used by the Incas for experimentation with crops, then the salt mines which have been in use since Pre-Inca times. Water from a subterranean stream is channeled through pools where it evaporates and leaves behind pure salt crystals. With thousands of stark white pools stretching down the valley, the views are amazing. Our final destination is Ollantaytambo ruins where we will spend an hour. After visiting Ollantaytambo, we will come back to Cusco by Huarocondo town to enjoy the amazing landscapes that Iscuchaca province offers.

Option 03: Sacred Valley Plus (Chinchero, Moray, Maras, Salt pond, Ollantaytambo, and Pisac ruins.
  • Note: There will be an upgrade of $15 per person for this option

On this option of Sacred Valley full-day tour, we will pick you up from your hotel at 7 am. We will drive for about 35 minutes to Chinchero.  We will stop to see the Textile Center and you will get an explanation from the locals about how they make their beautiful textiles. Then we will keep driving to the next place called Moray, a magnificent series of terrace circles set into the ground that was once used by the Incas for experimentation with crops, then the salt mines which have been in use since Pre-Inca times. WHAT YOU NEED TO TAKE FOR SACRED VALLEY TOUR

  • Clothing: Packing layers are the key because weather in the Sacred Valley changes quickly. Pack t-shirts and add warmth with long-sleeve clothing and a fleece jacket. Lightweight pants for hiking.
  • Footwear: Comfortable hiking shoes or athletic sneakers with good traction are perfect for walking up to and around the Incan archaeological sites.
  • Sun protection: Bring your hat, sun glasses, and sunscreen.
  • Rain gear:  During the wet season, pack a waterproof jacket or a travel-size umbrela or plastic ponchos.
  • Bottled wáter: It is not recommend to drink tap water in Peru. But staying hydrated is important for preventing altitude sickness.
  • Money: It is good to have small bills and coins in the Sacred Valley because market vendors and small stores may not have adequate change to break larger bills.
  • Daypack: It is undoubtedly a must-have when traveling outside Cusco for a day. Make sure your backpack fits extra clothes, water, and snacks.
  • Snacks: Energy bars, candies, cookies, etc (you can also buy fresh fruits at one of the villages’ markets).
  • Insect repellent: There are mosquitoes in the secred valley.
  • Portable chargers: It is recommended to bring charger because phone batteries run out quicky.
  • Toilet paper: Some toilets dont have toilet paper.
  • Antibacterial hand gel.
  • Some small plastic bags for disposals.

CUSCO TOURIST TICKET

You will need a tourist ticket to visit the Sacred Valley. Below you have all the information about them.

The Cusco Boleto Turistico is the only ticket that allows you to visit the most important tourist attractions in and around the Cusco area. With this Ticket, you visit Inca Ruins, museums and typical dances of Peru at 07:00 pm daily.  you don´t need to book in advance the tourist ticket, just buy it at the first site you visit. Cash only. There are 2 types of Tickets.

1.- THE GENERAL CUSCO TOURIST TICKET

BTG is also known as the Complete Cusco Tourist Ticket. (In Spanish it is called the Boleto Turístico Integral Cusco). This complete Tourist Ticket Cusco gives you permission to discover all 16 tourist attractions in the Cusco region: If you want to visit ruins in both Cusco & the Sacred Valley, your best option is the full “General Boleto Turistico”

2.- PARTIAL CUSCO TOURIST TICKET.

The Partial Cusco Tourist Ticket is only valid for one or two days. It allows you to enter certain Inca Archeological Ruins and these sites are grouped together according to tourist circuits. This Partial Cusco Tourist Ticket is not available for students or for minors. If you plan on visiting only Sacred Valley and  Maras Moray. But not City Tour on Cusco,  the best option is the partial one.
