Inca Trail News and Updates

  • On April 10th, 2025, new permits for the Inca Trail 4-day trek were released for the months of April, May, and June. These permits were previously sold out for the entirety of those months, but with the recent release, there is still a chance to secure a spot. However, these newly available permits are selling out quickly, and availability is limited. If you are considering booking this iconic trek, we strongly recommend sending us a message as soon as possible to ensure your place on the trail.
  • On April 01st, 2025. The inca Trail is reopen with small changes in campsites because the wiñaywayna campsite is still closed, people who are camping in campsites Wayllabamba, Pacaymayo and wiñaywayna. Their last night sleep will camp in Phuyupatamarca which  6 hours from Machu Picchu. And people who were camping in Ayapata, Chaquicocha and wiñaywayna, they will go in Puente ruinas which is below of machu picchu.
  • On March 12th, 2025: The closure of the Inca Trail has been extended from March 16th to March 31st due to persistent and heavy rainfall.
  • On February 28th, 2025. The local authorities announced the temporary closure of the Inca Trail from March 1st to March 15th due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall, particularly affecting the third day of the trail. The persistent downpours have significantly increased the risk of further landslides along the route, posing a threat to hikers’ safety. Consequently, authorities have taken precautionary measures to assess and restore the affected areas before reopening the trail to the public.
  • On February 1st, 2025.  The Inca Trail officially closes for maintenance, remaining inaccessible throughout the entire month of February. This annual closure allows for necessary restoration work, ensuring the preservation of the trail and its surrounding environment.
  • On January 26th, 2025. The permits for the Inca Trail 4-day, 5-day, and 7-day treks are officially sold out for the entire month of May. If you are planning to hike the Inca Trail in May, your only options are the 2-day Inca Trail or alternative treks such as the Lares Trek, Salkantay Trek, Inca Jungle, or Ausangate Trek.   • On January 3rd, 2025, we will pay for all the Inca Trail permits that we booked in November.
  • On November 4th, 2024, the Inca Trail permits for 2025 were released for all Inca Trail options. All travel companies will book the permits and make payments in January 2025.
  • March 1st 2023: Inca Trail opened for travelers again after the strike. Also, the train service to and from Cusco start running again.
  • December 13th 2022: Due to ongoing demonstrations in Cusco. Inca Trail is closed until further notice. Also, train service to and from Cusco and Machu Picchu has also been suspended for December 13 and an indefinite general strike has been declared in Cusco región.
  • May 25th 2022: People who are hiking the Inca Trail 4 Days Route, Inca Trail 7 Days Route, and the Inca Trail 2 Day Route. They are not allowed to visit all the Inca sites of Machu Picchu. From the Sun Gate, you should go straight to a viewpoint where you will take your postcard picture of Machu Picchu then go to the exit then re-enter the City by the lower part to complete the Circuit 3.
