Environmental & Social Responsibility at Rainbow Mountain Peru

AB Expeditions recognizes the importance of maintaining the environment, which we share with a variety of wildlife. As part of our commitment to society and the natural environment, we organized a cleanup day at the Rainbow Mountain surroundings (Surinicocha and Kelwacocha lakes), as well as along the roads linking these lakes to the spectacular Rainbow Mountain, which is near Ausangate Mountain.

AB Expeditions’ Commitment:

This action allowed us to not only fulfill our environmental commitments but also improve our team bond. Every member of our team organized to support this worthy cause, demonstrating our commitment to society and the natural environment that we value.

Challenges and Discoveries:

Several challenges appeared during our cleanup day. We were surprised by how much litter we found along the lakeshores and on the trails connecting the lakes to the Rainbow Mountains. Plastic bottles and bags, cigarette filters, dishwasher packaging, cans, and glass bottles were among the litter left behind by tourism activities and locals. These wastes posed a direct threat to wildlife and the surrounding ecosystem, so their removal was critical.

Community Impact:

Our cleanup activity not only improved the condition of the environment, but it also benefited the local community and the scenery. We received confirmation that, following our intervention, the lakes and trail looked and felt noticeably different. By demonstrating our commitment to environmental conservation, we hope to inspire others to join our cause and implement more sustainable practices in their own lives and businesses.

Conclusions:
